Park your Domain Name.Parking a domain name is pointing it to the already existing IP number of another domain. That way, more than one domain name resolves at one location. For example, you can resolve yourname.com and yourname.org at the same web site. For example, if you have an on-line clothing store you may wish to have the domain names clothes.com, shirts.com, and jeans.com all point to your account. This is an excellent way to increase your visibility and bring more visitors to your site! Once you have set up an account with us, just contact us and let us know the domain name you would like to park under your account (we will also usually have researched a list we think you'd be interested in when we provide you with a quote). Parked domains are not separate accounts, they are merely pointers to an existing web site rental account. Parked domains do not have their own IP address.
Domain Name Pointers (URL Forwarding).URL Forwarding will allow you to redirect pages on your site to other locations. Redirecting allows you to send the user to, for example, 'new.html' when they attempt to access 'old.html'. URL Forwarding allows you to set up a redirection so that the user that types in one URL will automatically be sent to another URL. Note that you cannot use this feature if you have FrontPage Extensions installed.

What is a Domain Name?A domain name is a unique Identifier that points to a certain site on the World Wide Web. Each computer on the Internet has a unique numeric Internet Protocol address such as 131.215.3.29. But these numbers are not at all user-friendly, so we give them a mnemonic or a nickname if you like. It is lot easier to remember cricket.co.za than some long-winded number. And as you can see it also gives the user inkling to what the site is about.
Do I need to register a Domain Name?Your company has spent a lot of time, effort and money on promoting your company name and brands. It is therefore sensible to register your name and to protect the branded investment and to give Internet Customers a Domain Name they know. This is crucial if your company's name is a generic word with other meanings or uses.
Unfortunately there are Domain Name Speculators operating on the Internet. These people register company names with the knowledge that they will be in demand sooner or later. Companies have been known to pay vast sums of money to get their company names back. In the case of well-known registered trademarks and brand names, a company may resort to legal steps to retrieve such names from any person that has wrongfully registered the name as a Domain Name. Even this could involve litigation, an expensive and time-consuming exercise.
But what use will it be to me?Firstly you would have secured your Domain Name. Secondly because you already have an email address e.g. yourname@yourcompanyname.co.za, DigiWorks will alias your existing email address. This means that we will set-up an alias e.g. enquires@yourcompanyname.co.za, which will go through to your existing email account. This will be done FREE of charge. Your next step would be to commission a web site thus allowing you to participate in one of the largest emerging marketplaces.
